Kano Govt covers 57,000 impoverished students’ NECO/NBTE fees with N1.3bn
The National Examinations Council and the National Board for Technical Education received N1.3 billion from the Kano State Government as registration fees for the state’s 57,000 impoverished students.
In Kano on Monday, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf made this announcement as he kicked off the distribution of more than two million pieces of educational material to the state’s elementary and secondary schools.
Yusuf declared that his administration gave new educational resources for the state’s public schools top attention.
“In our state, the days of lecturing students as they sat on the ground are long gone. We already have a plan in place to make sure that public institutions have furnishings.
He declared, “We are running a responsible government that will ensure the provision of a sound and high-quality education for our students.

He claims that the state government is building 130 new boys’ and girls’ schools in an effort to register out-of-school youngsters during the upcoming academic year.
The governor claimed that in order to promote enrolment, retention, and graduation rates among poor girls, the state also provided 40,000 of them with a N20,000 monthly stipend.
He said that the government would employ 5,000 of the State Basic Education Service Delivery Association members.
In order for the government to quickly hire them, he stated, “I have instructed the committee established to screen members of the Basic Education Service Delivery Association to submit their names and qualifications.”
Yusuf warned that his administration would not support corruption and theft, and he called on anyone holding public office in the state to ensure honesty and transparency in the performance of their duties.
Umar Haruna Doguwa, the state’s commissioner for education, had earlier reaffirmed the state’s commitment to expanding access to free, high-quality education for everyone by giving schools essential teaching aids.
According to Doguwa, the governor Yusuf administration has reopened all of the state’s shut-down girls boarding institutions.
He congratulated the governor for paying the State Basic Education Service Delivery Association N300 million in overdue allowances.
