Kaduna-Abuja expressway witnesses devastating incident resulting in the loss of 16 lives

16 people have lost their lives in a car accident on the Kaduna-Abuja motorway.

According to Mr. Kabir Nadabo, the Kaduna Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), 27 more people were hurt in the car accident.

He informed the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the deadly vehicle collision happened on Sunday near the motorway in the hamlet of Audu Jhangon.

He clarified that the accident happened at 5:20 a.m. when a DAF trailer with the licence plate KUJ 430XC carrying an excessive amount of cargo lost control and plunged into a ditch.

According to early reports, the driver was travelling quickly, most likely as a result of exhaustion.

The rescue efforts were carried out by the joint rescue teams of RS1.114 Zhipe Unit Command and RS1.16B Dutse Outpost.

“Out of the 65 persons involved in the crash, 16 died and 27 were injured.

He continued, “The injured have been transported to the closest hospital for treatment.

After learning of the collision, Nadabo claimed to have gone to the spot to gather firsthand information and to oversee the rescue team’s transfer of the dead to the mortuary.

“I also gave the tow vehicle instructions to remove the portion of the wrecked trailer that was obstructing the road. The route is open for traffic and the work is still under progress, according to Nadabo.
