Members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who support Siminalayi Fubara, the state’s controversial governor, have chosen Ehie Edison as the new speaker.
Ehie was ousted as House Leader in the Rivers Assembly
At a meeting in Government House, Edison—who had earlier been removed from his position as House leader by members opposed to Fubara—was selected to speak.
The episode happened as a result of pro-Fubara MPs trying to block the governor’s impeachment procedures from moving forward.
