President Bola Tinubu has officially signed a bill creating the North-Central Development Commission, aimed at boosting infrastructure and socio-economic growth in the region.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed into law a bill creating the North-Central Development Commission (NCDC), a significant step aimed at promoting growth and development in the region. The announcement was made by Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio during Tuesday’s plenary session in the Senate chamber.

The NCDC is tasked with driving economic development, improving infrastructure, and enhancing social welfare programs across the North-Central states. This initiative is part of the federal government’s broader strategy to address regional inequalities and ensure balanced development across Nigeria.

With the establishment of the NCDC, the North-Central region now joins other geopolitical zones, such as the Niger Delta and the North-East, which already have their own dedicated development commissions. This move underscores the government’s commitment to fostering inclusive growth and addressing the unique challenges faced by different regions in the country.
