The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Titus Uba, in the most recent Benue state governorship election, filed an appeal, but it was denied by the Appeal Court in Abuja.

The appeal had dismissed the September 23 case that had been submitted to the Governorship Election case Tribunal, contesting the declaration of All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Hyacinth Alia as the winner of the March 18 governorship race.

A three-person panel of the court unanimously decided against the appellants on the three issues that were reduced to their essence. Consequently, the panel determined that the appeal was without merit.

The PDP and its candidate, Samuel Ode, the APC’s deputy governorship candidate, were accused of forgery; however, as required, the PDP and its candidate were unable to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt. Accordingly, the court upheld the tribunal’s decision.
