All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Joe Igbokwe has charged activist Aisha Yesufu with acting in an absurd manner.

Igbokwe said that Yesufu’s disdain for the national anthem was harming her and her family.

At a function, Yesufu had declined to perform the new national anthem, “Nigeria we hail thee.”

Yesufu was observed sitting down during an event while others stood up to pay tribute and sing the country’s new song.

According to Obasanjonews.com, President Bola Tinubu signed National Anthem Bill 2024 into law on Wednesday.

With the president’s approval, the traditional national song, “Nigeria we hail thee,” was reinstated.

At a time when Nigerians are facing hardship, the decision to ratify the bill was met with mixed responses.

Tinubu stated that the reinstatement of the new national anthem was a priority to him in the midst of the responses.
