Osagie Ize-Iyamu, a candidate who has run for governorship in Edo State twice, has reaffirmed his status as an aspirant for the governorship election scheduled for September 21, 2024. He addressed rumors of his disqualification from the All Progressives Congress (APC) by a screening committee allegedly formed by former APC National Chairman, Senator Adams Oshiomhole.

Ize-Iyamu clarified his position upon arrival at the Benin Airport, assuring party supporters that he would be obtaining his nomination form from the APC National Secretariat in Abuja.

He emphasized that no screening committee had disqualified him from running and dismissed allegations of Oshiomhole’s interference in party affairs as unfounded. Ize-Iyamu declared that his candidacy was driven by the mandate of his people, rather than personal ambition or hunger for power.

It is worth noting that Ize-Iyamu previously contested against Governor Godwin Obaseki in 2016 and 2020, but was unsuccessful.
