ISWAP’s IED attack on power transmission tower uncovers identity of slain NSCDC officer

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has identified the personnel who was killed by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by the Islamic State of the West African Province (ISWAP).

According to counter insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, the NSCDC officer, known as Nurudeen, tragically stepped on the IED at a location where an electricity tower had been destroyed by ISWAP terrorists.

The incident occurred on December 28, 2023, along the Maiduguri-Damaturu Highway.

Makama emphasized the need for the NSCDC and other security agencies to deploy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams to such scenes to prevent further attacks.

The NSCDC has not yet issued a response to the incident.
