At least fifteen fisherman have reportedly been killed and numerous others injured by fighters from the Islamic State West Africa Province, or ISWAP.

The event reportedly took place in Borno State’s Kukawa Local Government Area, according to Obasanjonews.com.

In the Tumbun Rogo Kangarwa Ward in Kukawa LGA, on the edge of Lake Chad, the fishermen were getting ready for night fishing on Sunday at approximately 10:40 p.m., according to the report.

The ISWAP fighters, according to a source, assaulted the area, collected up the fishermen, and arranged them before opening fire.

“On Monday morning, we buried fifteen people in accordance with Islamic tradition.

We had all of our smoked fish carried off. We’ve looked through the surrounding bushes for several of our people who are still missing, but we haven’t discovered them.

The fishing community is in a state of shock as a result of this occurrence. They have attacked us three times now. To protect our safety and security, we implore the authorities to intervene,” the source stated.

In a prior attack, terrorists killed about nine fisherman by going through the corpses looking for valuables.
