Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo also disclosed that by the end of the next year, the ministry planned to send passports directly to Nigerians.

Out of the backlog of more over 300,000 international passports he encountered upon taking office, the Interior Minister, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, reports that 204,322 are now available for pickup.

In a news conference on Wednesday in Abuja, Ojo revealed that just 99,901 of the money that was ready for collection had been collected.

He pleaded with Nigerians to get their unclaimed passports.

Tunji-Ojo also disclosed that the ministry was collaborating with the immigration service and their contractors to ensure that beginning in 2019, Nigerians’ preferred addresses would receive direct delivery of their international passports.
