INEC Officially Recognizes Sylvester Ezeokenwa as APGA National Chairman

INEC formally acknowledges Sylvester Ezeokenwa as the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), solidifying his leadership position in the party.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reinstated Sylvester Ezeokenwa as the national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Sam Olumekun, the INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Voter Education Committee, revealed this in a statement on Tuesday.

He stated that the Commission’s decision was in line with the Supreme Court judgment, which has been delivered to them.

Olumekun mentioned that during its meeting earlier in the day, the electoral body discussed the ongoing leadership dispute within APGA, which has been involved in legal conflicts.

Olumekun stated that, in accordance with the judgment, the Commission now acknowledges Ezeokenwa as the APGA Chairman.

The statement notes that the commission has received the Supreme Court’s judgment regarding Appeal No. SC/CV/824/2024, APGA & ANOR vs OYE & ORS, issued on 27th November 2024, which officially recognizes Barrister Sylvester (Sly) Ezeokenwa as the party Chairman.

Following the judgment of the Supreme Court, the Commission has reinstated Barr. Ezeokenwa as the chairman of APGA and updated our website to reflect this change.

The Supreme Court ruling, issued on November 27, 2024, confirmed Ezeokenwa as the national chairman of APGA.

In a unanimous decision, a panel of five members headed by Stephen Adah declared that Edozie Njoku was incorrect in claiming the position of APGA national chairman.

Since 2023, Ezeokenwa and Njoku have been engaged in a leadership dispute that has resulted in several legal battles.
