INEC names APC’s Buni as the winner of the Yobe gubernatorial race

Gov. Mai Mala Buni of Yobe has been proclaimed the victor of the state’s governorship election on Saturday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

On Sunday in Damaturu, the INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Umaru Pate, revealed the outcome.

According to Pate, Buni of the All Progressives Congress (APC) received 317,113 votes to defeat Alhaji Sherif Abdullahi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who received 124,259 votes, by a large margin.

He pronounced APC candidate Buni Mai Mala to be the winner of the election and re-elected after he had complied with all legal procedures.

Alhaji Garba Umar of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) finished in a distant third place with 14,246 votes, while Arabi Mohammed of the Action Alliance (AA) garnered 3,260, according to Pate, who is also the Vice Chancellor of Federal University Kashere in Gombe.

He stated that there were 1,485,141 registered voters, 459,492 accredited voters overall, 444,567 votes that were legitimate, 13,214 votes that were disqualified, and 457,781 votes that were cast in total.
