India prohibits the import of computers, laptops, and servers
The Indian government slapped immediate limits on the import of laptops, tablets, personal computers, and servers on Thursday.
According to the directive issued by the Federal Ministry of Commerce and Industry, restricted imports would be permitted with a valid licence.
Passengers carrying the aforementioned devices in their luggage will be exempt from the ban.
According to the announcement, up to 20 of these items per consignment qualify for an import licence exemption for research and development, testing, evaluation, repair, and re-export.
Although the government has not commented on its reasoning for the action, industry analysts believe it will assist stimulate domestic manufacturing.
