A coworker may have been kidnapped because two accused internet fraudsters, often called the “Yahoo lads,” and two of their female coworkers want to split the money from the fraud.

Obasanjonews24 says that the accused was taken into custody by the Ogun State Police Command on Monday.

The accused were named as Mr. Agbe Simeon, Miss Messiah Nicky, Mr. Oladapo Dolapo, and Miss Yetunde Shonola by the Ogun State police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi.

Oyeyemi said that they were arrested in the village of Orile Imo in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State after the police at the Owode Egba division heard about them.

The police were informed that Haruna Usman, who had been missing since December 22, was being held captive in Orile, Imo.

The four “abductors” were captured, but two more managed to flee when the DPO of Owode Egba Division, CSP Popoola Olasunkanmi, promptly mobilised his troops to the location.

According to Oyeyemi, a preliminary inquiry showed that the suspects and the victim were all associated with a gang of internet fraudsters.

They had recently defrauded an unidentified victim out of N26.4 million, but “the victim only gave the sum of N2,200 to his other coworkers, stating that the money has not been paid in full by their client,” according to the information learned.

Oyeyemi claims that because of this behaviour, his coworkers have been holding him captive at a herbalist in Orile, Imo, for the past week.

If he didn’t give them their full share of the fraud proceeds, they had threatened to kill him there.

Lanre Bankole, the commissioner of police, has ordered that the suspects be sent to the State CIID’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit for additional investigation and potential prosecution.
