The Ogun State Police Command is presently holding 30-year-old Ayobami Oyeleye for machete-severing his mother’s hands.

The offender was also charged with causing a significant cut on the woman’s skull.

In the state’s Obafemi Owode Local Government Area’s Akibo village on Tuesday, Oyeleye allegedly beat his 65-year-old mother, Esther, following an unidentified argument.

On Wednesday, it was learned that a disturbance coming from the elderly woman’s home throughout the night prompted her neighbours to rush outside to investigate.

When they arrived at the residence, they saw Esther lying in a pool of blood with a stab wound to the back of her skull and both hands severed.

Oyeleye was reportedly seen by the neighbours wielding a sharp cutlass while standing next to his mother.

Oyeleye also used the cutlass to inflict damage on the elderly woman’s head and legs, according to an eyewitness who spoke under the condition of anonymity due to the seriousness of the incident.

The sufferer had reportedly been rushed to the hospital for treatment right away, according to the source.
