In Lagos, the NDLEA discovers 61 kg of cannabis hidden in car parts
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized 185 cannabis packages that were hidden inside of moving automobiles.
The medicines were brought into Nigeria at the Tincan Seaport in Apapa from Montreal, Canada.
In a statement released on Sunday, NDLEA’s director of media and advocacy, Femi Babafemi, said that the drugs were meant to be given out before Christmas.
He claimed that during a joint search of a container at the harbor, the 61.3kg consignment of cannabis indica was seized.
Babafemi said that the shipping label for the container with the number MSCU5206726 from Montreal, Canada, said that it held three used cars.

According to the statement, it was found to have two cars, a 2009 Toyota Corolla car and a 2009 Ford Econoline bus, as well as old car engines, bicycles, shoes, and other things, including drugs.
Two dock workers, Abdulquadri Abdulazeez and Ogbuji Kenneth, were first taken into custody by port security and the police. They are now in the custody of the NDLEA because of the seizure.
In the meantime, Babafemi claimed that on December 21, at the Lagos airport’s Skyway Aviation Handling Company Plc (SAHCO) import shed, smuggled bottles of cannabis juice with a gross weight of 16.50 kg were also uncovered.
Soremekun Olalekan Wasiu, Olufisayo Dayo, Moruf Olusegun Bashir, and Imole Moses Ajayi were all taken into custody after anti-drug officers looked into them, he said.
The following day, December 22, saw the arrest of the consignee, a proprietor of a wine shop named Emebede Chuka, thanks to the suspects’ statements.
