Imo Government Halts Service Extension for Civil Servants, Mandates Immediate Retirement

The Imo State Government has made an important announcement regarding the suspension of approval for service extension for civil servants, specifically Directors and Permanent Secretaries.

This decision has been taken in order to address labor concerns and to ensure career progression within the civil service.

The Secretary to the Government of Imo State, Chief Cosmas Iwu, emphasized that all civil servants who are due for retirement must adhere to existing laws and retire on the designated date.

Furthermore, the government has issued a stern warning that any civil servant who refuses to leave the service upon reaching retirement age will be required to reimburse any salaries or benefits received during the period of overstay. It is important to note that this announcement is effective immediately, and all civil servants who fall under this category are strongly advised to comply with the directive accordingly.
