Igbo Group Honors Kalu for SEDC Bill Passage in House of Reps

House of Reps member Kalu receives recognition from an Igbo group for his leadership in facilitating the passage of the SEDC bill, marking a legislative milestone.

The Igbo Union, also known as Nzuko Ndigbo, has announced its intention to recognize and commend the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Benjamin Kalu for his unwavering commitment in championing a bill that led to the establishment of South East Development Commission (SEDC).

On Wednesday in Abuja, the President of the group – Prince Elias Odoemena mentioned that Hon. Ben Kalu, a prominent figure in Bende, Abia State was motivated by his immense affection for Southeast and determination to enhance its progress when he passed the bill.

According to Odoemena, there was a general consensus amongst the Igbo people that it would be highly beneficial to pay tribute to Kalu and simultaneously express their expectations from him as one of their own.

He remembered that the late Engr (Dr.) Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, former President of Ohanaeze had paid a visit to Kalu and expressed his support for the SEDC and its significance in catering to the needs of people in their zone.

According to Odoemena, love is the only means of repaying affection and consequently expressed appreciation towards President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the legislation that established SEDC. Additionally, he pleaded with him to present a supplementary budget before the National Assembly in order for SEDC to commence operations promptly.

Hon Kalu has demonstrated that effective representation depends on introducing valuable initiatives and enhancing the regions under your jurisdiction, as evidenced by his exceptional performance in representing Abuja. The Deputy Speaker’s endorsement of Hon Kalu instills confidence in us regarding his ability to provide quality representation.
