The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Sunday that Israel and its allies successfully intercepted the majority of drones and missiles launched by Iran overnight, resulting in only minor damage to one military base.
The attack was in response to an airstrike on an Iranian diplomatic compound in Syria, which resulted in the deaths of seven members of Tehran’s military. While Israel has not commented on the airstrike, Iran has accused the IDF of targeting their embassy.
The IDF reported that over 200 drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles were fired from Iran, with most being intercepted outside of Israel’s borders. Only a few missiles fell within Israeli territory, causing minor damage to infrastructure.
The IDF spokesperson emphasized that the damage to the military base in the south was minimal and limited to infrastructure.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed success in hitting and destroying important military targets, although Israeli media reported that 99% of Iran’s drones and missiles were intercepted by Israeli and allied defense systems. The IDF continues to intercept threats on their way to Israel.
