“Security forces have apprehended 20 suspects believed to be involved in the recent invasion of the Oyo State Government Secretariat.

The coordinated operation led to the successful capture of individuals linked to the unauthorized entry into the government premises. Authorities are interrogating the detainees to gather more information about the incident and ascertain any potential motives behind the intrusion.

The swift action by security operatives underscores the commitment to maintaining law and order in the state. Residents await further developments as investigations into the security breach continue.

The Oyo State police authorities, in collaboration with other security agencies, have apprehended 20 individuals in connection with the breach of the state government premises in Agodi, Ibadan, on Saturday.

The suspects were found in possession of various weapons, ammunition, and ATMs, as stated by the Oyo State police command spokesman, Osifeso Adewale.

The police have identified the invaders as suspected members of the Yoruba Nation group and have labeled the attack as a criminal, unpatriotic, and potentially treasonable felony and terrorism.

An investigation has been initiated by the police, with the Deputy Commissioner of Police overseeing the State Criminal Investigation Department and leading the team.

The invaders, who arrived in buses, attempted to breach the governor’s office but were thwarted by the security operatives present.

The suspects were heavily armed and wore military camouflage during the attack, hoisting the Yoruba Nation group flag in the area.

Following the incident, security forces, including soldiers, took control of the area, securing the Oyo State Government Secretariat and controlling traffic flow.

Following the invasion, a joint team of security personnel, including soldiers, assumed control of the vicinity, effectively barricading access to the Oyo State Government Secretariat. Consequently, traffic was redirected away from the area.

According to witnesses, gunshots were reported as a result of a confrontation between the security agents and unidentified individuals. However, tranquility has now been reinstated within the secretariat, as evidenced by the presence of individuals engaging in a social gathering on the grounds of the House of Chiefs.
