I Won’t Leave My Successor With One Naira Debt, Wike

Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has declared his intention to pass on an economy free of debt so that his successor may build on it.

This statement was made by Wike on Wednesday at the commissioning of the renal centre and house officers’ quarters at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH).

“I have made it clear to everyone who cares that I won’t leave my successor with even a single naira in debt.
No, I won’t.
In his remarks to the relevant stakeholders, Wike stated, “I want him to start on a clean note.

He shouldn’t remark, “I arrived and met a debt of 50 billion nairas, of course I won’t do it.”

The governor also made it clear that he was confident in the numerous accomplishments he has made around the state and for which his critics have expressed praise.

It doesn’t matter how much money you’ve accumulated; what matters is the legacy you’ve left behind. Once you’re gone, will you be able to turn around and say, “I’m glad, I’m right,” or “I haven’t let my people down?”

I can boldly go down the street with my two hands in my pockets and say, “I thank God Almighty for the chance. I made promises, and those promises have been kept.”

During the commissioning of the Rukpokwu-Igwuruta Link Road in the Obio-Akpor Local Government Area on Tuesday, Wike encouraged the residents of the state to support PDP candidates for the positions of governor, member of the National Assembly, and member of the state House of Assembly.

He claimed that there was no question regarding his succession before the impending elections.

“Are you considering replacing us?” ‘Don’t you know who will be replacing us?’ he said.

He also urged his fans to ignore anyone who claimed to be the state’s top official.
