Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State recently revealed the significant financial challenges he inherited from the previous administration, including a substantial debt of $587m, N85bn, and numerous contractual obligations. Despite this burden, Governor Sani expressed his commitment to utilizing the limited available resources to drive Kaduna State towards prosperity and growth.

During a town hall meeting, Governor Sani addressed a diverse audience comprising traditional leaders, religious figures, politicians, labor unions, civil society organizations, youth, and women groups. The presence of prominent figures such as former Governor Ramalan Yero and General Martin-Luther Agwai highlighted the importance of the discussions regarding the state’s financial situation and future prospects.

Accompanied by his deputy, Hadiza Balarabe, Governor Sani provided insights into the state’s revenue sources, the inherited debt, and his administration’s key focus areas, which include security, housing, education, healthcare, and support for small businesses. The Commissioner of Finance and the Budget and Planning counterpart also shed light on the financial intricacies and challenges faced by the state.

Despite the obstacles posed by the inherited debt and abandoned projects by contractors, Governor Sani reassured the people of Kaduna State of his unwavering dedication to steering the state towards progress and sustainable development. By maintaining a focus on key priority areas and prudent financial management, Governor Sani aims to overcome the financial hurdles and lead Kaduna State to a brighter future.
