I Can Now Take Care of My Nine Children Properly – Fani-Kayode Celebrates Acquittal
After being acquitted of forgery charges, Femi Fani-Kayode expresses relief, stating he can now focus on caring for his nine children.
Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode (FFK), expressed relief after being acquitted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in a case involving medical forgery allegations against him.
He expressed gratitude, saying he thanks God for his family and children. He mentioned that facing four criminal cases from the EFCC over the past 18 years has been a significant ordeal, affecting his family, career, business—essentially every aspect of his life.
“Today, we completed the fourth and final one. With God’s grace, I can now live my life, be there for my family, and properly care for my nine children.”
Earlier on Tuesday, a Special Offences Court in Ikeja, the capital of Lagos State, cleared Fani-Kayode of charges related to medical forgery.
Justice Olubunmi Abike-Fadipe, in her ruling on the no case submission filed by the former minister’s counsel, decided to release him. She concluded that the prosecution had not successfully established a prima facie case against him.
The court accepted the no case submission made by his attorney, Norrison Quakers (SAN), and determined that Fani-Kayode had no charges to respond to since the EFCC failed to connect him with the crime.
In her decision, Justice Abike-Fadipe stated that the prosecution did not provide evidence from either the defendant’s associates who received money from him or the lawyer who alleged that the defendant had directed his law firm to submit medical reports to the Federal High Court.
Fani-Kayode appeared in court to face a 12-count charge filed by the EFCC. He was accused of using forged medical reports, which he presented before Justice Daniel Osiagor at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos. This occurred during his prosecution for an alleged N4.9 billion fraud case brought against him by the EFCC.
However, the former minister refuted the allegations.
