Clear guidelines have been provided by Nigerian telecommunication companies to aid subscribers in unblocking their SIM cards, as disconnections occurred recently due to the National Identification Number (NIN)-SIM harmonization exercise.

The objective of improving the credibility of the country’s SIM registration database has resulted in several subscribers experiencing temporary service interruptions.

On Monday, telecom companies released a statement detailing a systematic approach to restoring connectivity in order to aid impacted clients.

1. To unbar your Airtel SIM card, dial *121# and input your 11-digit NIN. You will receive a confirmation message confirming the successful removal of the bar on your SIM card.

2. To access 9mobile (EMTS), use *200*8# on your phone’s dial pad.

3. To submit your NIN, dial 109 and enter your NIN number (e.g., *109*12345678901#), then follow the instructions provided by Glo.

4. To verify your NIN status, visit [nin.mtn.ng](http://nin.mtn.ng) under MTN. If it is not linked, follow the necessary steps to link it by submitting an OTP and NIN. After successful linking, your line will instantly be unbarred without manual intervention.

5. Submit your NIN with a smile.

After you’ve given consent and verified your NIN, call 07020444444 or email tocustomercare@smile.com.ng for the unbarment of your line.

6. To submit your NIN for KYC verification, you can either call 8002345678 or email care@spectranet.com.ng. It is mandatory to visit a Spectranet store for completing the verification process even if you have submitted your NIN online.

7. To update and unbar your Ntel line, go to any of their stores with your National Identification Number (NIN) for fingerprint verification against your KYC record. Once verified and agreed upon by you, the necessary updates will be made.
