Herbalist Arrested by Police for Killing 3 Accused of Witchcraft

Police have arrested a female herbalist accused of killing three individuals who were alleged witches. Discover the details of the case.

Salestina Bala, a 30-year-old female traditional healer has been apprehended by the Adamawa State Police Command in relation to the murder of three persons who were suspected of practicing witchcraft.

The allegation stands that Salestina, a Kwa village resident in Lamurde Local Government Area was involved in conspiring with others to torture and execute the victims.

According to reports, Lazarus Bashiru, Galion Isa, and Ajasko Yakubu were subjected to a cruel ordeal for allegedly engaging in sorcery. These three individuals are the victims.

Officers from the Tigno Divisional Headquarters arrested the suspect on September 14, 2024, as confirmed by SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, a spokesperson for the police.

The crime was reported to the police by Dogara Sabon Reza and Jeri Dogara, who were concerned citizens that brought it to public attention.

Salestina and her accomplices orchestrated a “trial by ordeal” leading to the victims’ torture to death, as per Nguroje.

Moris Dankwambo, the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, has declared that after the ongoing investigation is completed, charges will be brought against the suspect who will face trial. The police have assured their dedication towards enforcing justice for this sorrowful incident.
