Anambra witnesses a violent attack as gunmen kill one person and abduct another, raising concerns over security despite Governor Soludo’s war on crime.

On Tuesday night in Ifitedunu, located within the Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State, gunmen attacked and killed an unidentified man while also abducting his companion.

The individuals, traveling in a Nissan SUV with the Lagos registration number SMK 439 HJ, were reportedly ambushed around 8 p.m.

This incident took place on the same day Governor Chukwuma Soludo initiated a comprehensive campaign against criminals in the state, while also extending amnesty to those willing to renounce their unlawful activities.

A viral video circulating online depicts the body of a deceased man inside the vehicle, while the driver was taken by the attackers.

Members of the local vigilante group who arrived at the scene reported that the assailants pursued the victims from a nearby community in an ash-colored Lexus SUV.

The vigilantes also noted that the items found in the vehicle indicated the men were on their way home for Christmas. They encouraged anyone who recognized the vehicle or knew the victims to come forward with information.
