Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has recently made an announcement regarding the appointment of Major Maikano Adamu (rtd) as the Acting Commandant of the Zamfara State Community Protection Guards (CPG), with immediate effect.

This decision was taken following the suspension of Col. Rabiu Garba Yandoto (rtd), the former CPG Commandant, by the state government.

The suspension was reportedly a result of Yandoto’s critical remarks towards the state government, accusing them of not providing sufficient funding for the outfit.
