Ibrahim Bakare, a public commentator in Zamfara State, has expressed deep concern over the alarming rate at which bandits are killing and kidnapping people in the state.

Speaking to the press in Gusau, the State capital, Bakare emphasized that Zamfara State is regrettably descending into a dark age where the sanctity of human life is no longer respected.

He firmly believes that individuals should not have to live in fear within the confines of their own homes, asserting that every citizen has the fundamental right to live without intimidation.

Bakare also highlighted that the bandits should not be perceived as more powerful than the government, as he believes that the government has the capacity to address this issue effectively.

However, he expressed disappointment in the government’s lack of decisive action, suggesting that they are not fulfilling their responsibilities adequately.

Bakare referenced former President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida’s statement, emphasizing that nobody should be above the power of the government.

He questioned why such unfortunate incidents are occurring in the present era and called for accountability from the country’s leaders.

He expressed concern over the exorbitant amounts of money being paid to political appointees who prioritize their own interests over the welfare of the people.

Bakare concluded by stating that the excessive number of political appointees in Nigeria is not contributing positively to the country’s progress.
