Government of Enugu will close institutions and enterprises in compliance with “sit-down” order
The Enugu State Government has urged residents of the state to disregard the sit-at-home imposed by members of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, in sections of the South-East and to continue with their lawful activities.
The government ordered all schools, markets, banks, retail outlets, hospitals, transporters, and shopping centers to be open seven days per week, including Mondays.
It cautioned that violators of the directive may be compelled to cease operations immediately and emphasized that the states’ taskforce would be on the move to ensure compliance.
According to a statement released by the state government on Saturday, the appeal followed the recent prohibition and cessation of the state’s sit-at-home.
The statement reads, “This is to inform all schools, markets, banks, retail outlets, hospitals, transporters, malls, and the general public that, in light of the recent ban/cancellation of Mondays’ sit-at-home by the Government of Enugu State, in all nooks and crannies of the state, they have been directed to conduct normal business and activities each day of the week, including Mondays.
“The aforementioned entities and others are required to comply with the directive, as adequate security measures have been implemented to ensure their safety.
“Members of the government’s taskforce will move throughout the country to monitor compliance. Any market, transportation hub, or other entity that fails to open for business runs the risk of being closed.
