The 2014 Consolidated Medical Salary Scale (CONMESS) has been approved for the Association of Resident Doctors in Kaduna State by Governor Uba Sani.
As part of events commemorating his first 100 days in office, the Governor made this declaration during a press conference on Sunday, September 3, 2023.
He took advantage of the chance to discuss numerous topics, including those related to infrastructure development, security, and health.
Negotiations with the striking doctors took place in August 2023 as a result of a committee’s recommendations. It was discovered that resident doctors employed by the Kaduna State Ministry of Health receive 75% of the 2014 CONMESS, while their counterparts working at the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital receive 100% of CONMESS.
As a result, starting in September 2023, the approved 100% CONMESS will put Resident Doctors in the Ministry of Health on par with their colleagues at Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital, significantly increasing productivity and luring additional physicians to the state.
The committee’s recommendation to hire 89 additional doctors to fill the staffing deficit discovered in 2017 has been approved, the governor added in a separate announcement.
“This initiative, among others, was designed to improve doctors’ morale and expand access to high-quality healthcare for Kaduna residents,” he said. You may recall that we just started distributing modern medical equipment to our renovated primary health care facilities.
The governor emphasised the fruitful outcomes of his discussions with development partners, pointing out that the city’s increased investor attraction was a result of the administration’s efforts to build a business-friendly climate.
He informed the people of the State that any projects left unfinished by the most recent administration would be finished, and that in the coming months there would be a fresh focus on developing the rural areas.
Speaking on security, Governor Sani thanked Kaduna State’s security organisations for helping to train 7,000 members of the Kaduna State Vigilance Service, including experienced members and newly recruited members.
He also emphasised the need of efficient law enforcement and acknowledged the need for the State Police Force to support national security agencies in their work.
As his administration shifts into high gear in its effort to leave a legacy of peace, ethnic and religious unity, and even growth, the governor commended the people of Kaduna State for their support and faith in his administration. He also urged them to continue their support and collaboration.
