Giroud propels France into the World Cup semifinals as England loses

The defending champions, France, advanced to the semi-final on Saturday thanks to Olivier Giroud’s goal, setting up an exciting matchup with Morocco.

France kicked things off on the 17th minute.Aurelien Tchouameni received a ball from Antoine Griezmann and fired a beautiful long-range strike. The goalkeeper was taken aback as the ball sailed behind him and into the bottom left corner.

Harry Kane had a fantastic opportunity to tie the score for England inside the area but blew it. The goalkeeper made a magnificent save.

In the 54th minute, Kane converted a penalty to tie the score for England. Hugo Lloris, the goalie, had no chance as he played the ball into the left corner of the net.

On the 70th minute, Harry Maguire showed excellent awareness inside the area when he latched onto a cross from the ensuing free kick.He leaped high, but his soaring header was not quite accurate enough, and it hit the left post.

Giroud won it with 12 minutes remaining for France. A whipped-in ball from Antoine Griezmann was intercepted by him as he dashed into the area, and he brilliantly scored from close range into the left side of the net.

After Mason Mount was brought down by a defender’s challenge, Kane was given the chance to tie the score for England from the penalty spot.

As he missed the spot kick, Kane turned from a hero to a villain. The ball was played over the crossbar by him.
