Hon Bitebobo Amiee has been instructed by the Governor to promptly assume the position of chairperson, although no explicit motives for this resolution were revealed.

Three months after Fubara placed the chairpersons of the caretaker committee for all 23 local government areas of the state into office, their suspension was enforced.

The new inauguration took place after the previous elected council officials in the state ended their three-year term.

The governor’s actions incited clashes between his supporters and those of Nyesom Wike, his predecessor who currently serves as the FCT Minister.

The previous LG Chairmen, with support from Wike, declined to leave their posts which led to a conflict with followers of Fubara. This altercation resulted in the fatalities of two individuals including a law enforcement official.

Following the outbreak of violence, the Police Force directed its operatives to assume control of all 23 council secretariats.

For a duration of three months, Briggs did not work in his designated office as it remains under control by the police.
