A vote of confidence in Governor Siminalayi Fubara was carried by a number of Rivers State House of Assembly members under the direction of Edison Ehie.
The resolution was approved at the day’s plenary session, the lawmakers declared in a statement on Tuesday.
They declared their determination to “continuously give the governor the required support to accomplish his consolidation and continuity agenda to benefit the state,” citing Fubara’s security and developmental endeavours as the foundation for their decision to maintain calm in the oil-rich state.

The members urged the governor to start the rehabilitation process as soon as feasible, while denouncing the reported attack on Ehie’s home and the burning of the sacred chamber of the Rivers State House of Assembly three weeks ago.
They also emphasised the necessity of the investigations into the attacks and the prosecution of the perpetrators by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and other security agencies.
The statements come after rumours that the Martin Amaewhule-led opposition party of parliamentarians met earlier in the day and decided that the IGP look into the burning of the Assembly Chambers and that the people responsible be brought to justice.
According to reports, the Amaewhule faction convened in the State Assembly Complex auditorium on Moscow Road, where they were well guarded.
Reports of an alleged attack by several police personnel on the residence of breakaway Assembly leader Edison Ehie on Monday caused political unrest in Rivers State.
Olatunji Disu, the Commissioner of Police, denied the allegation.
