Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has declared that without his base, he is politically irrelevant.

According to Wike, a political figure loses importance the moment they lose their support base.

The former Rivers State governor declared that he would not lose sleep over any number of accusations made against him.

On Tuesday in Abuja, Wike told South-South leaders that the correct thing had to be done in his office.

Each and every one of us wants to preserve our democratic system and remain politically relevant, claims Wike.

Does your political system not exist? Are you willing to let someone simply stop talking to you? Each individual has a base. Am I not politically irrelevant if you accept my base?

The governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara, and Governor Wike are thought to no longer be on good terms.

The Rivers State House of Assembly’s legislators then moved to impeach Fubara as a result.

According to reports, Wike’s supporters are the parliamentarians that pushed to impeach Fubara.
