The French fourth-division team Bourges Foot 18 has been acquired by Sadio Mane of Senegal and Al Nassr.

Mane previously donated money to the team to help in recruitment, according to a statement posted on social media on Wednesday, as reported by ESPN via Mirror.

However, he has now gained the support of Yann Galut, the mayor of the city, and is fully engaged.

“We’ve been working with the city for the past three years,” Mane stated in a video message he sent after the deal was finalised. Our role is to administer and oversee the club. Although the task is great, I have no doubt that we can succeed if the residents of Bourges continue to work together. I think I’ll be in Bourges pretty soon.

The club plays in central France, 250 km from Paris, yet they have never advanced past the French second division (as Bourges 18).

In Group B of the Championnat National, the club is currently ranked second from bottom. After two local clubs merged, they were only established for the past two years.

Completesports.com adds that professional clubs like Toulouse and Angers, as well as amateur teams, field their reserves in the competition.
