Said to be insurgents, four soldiers from the Nigerian Army’s 6th Division were slain in Rivers State’s Ahoada East Local Government Area.

Tuesday was the incident that happened at Emesu Junction on the Amungboro-Emuphan Road.

The troops were ambushed by the attackers while on routine patrol, according to a statement made by Major Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, Acting Deputy Director of the 6 Division Army Public Relations Officer.

Danjuma pointed out that there are still two members of the oil firm staff who the soldiers were tied to.

The Orashi River was reportedly used by the suspects to escape through the Emesu waterside. In an effort to find the people responsible for this heinous act, troops are currently searching the surrounding area. Furthermore, continued efforts are being made to locate the unaccounted-for oil workers, according to the statement.

Major General Jamal Abdussalam, the General Officer Commanding of the 6 Division of the Nigerian Army/Land Component South in Operation Delta Safe, likewise denounced the attack.

Major General Jamal Abdussalam vehemently denounced this unjustified attack even as he acknowledged the heroic sacrifice made by the brave warriors. He gave the assurance that “efforts are being made to find these criminals and make them pay for their crimes.”

He gave the public the assurance that troops would not give up until all criminal activity in the Niger Delta region was effectively eradicated.
