First Lady of Ekiti denounces the murder of the FUOYE student
The wife of the governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, has denounced the murder of Miss Deborah Modupe Atanda, a female student at the Federal University of Oye Ekiti (FUOYE).
She expressed her sympathy to the deceased’s family as well as to the university’s student body, which was mourning the loss of a bright future.
She called the murder a heinous act, stunning in its savagery, profoundly heartbreaking, and wholly abhorrent.
A civilised academic environment that cultivates future leaders, in her opinion, has no place for such acts of violence.
She emphasised that a university should be a place for academic pursuits and idea exchange, never a tragic location where the futures of leaders are cut short.
Oyebanji begged the security personnel to use all human resources in their search for and prosecution of the criminals responsible for the horrible incident.
