First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has defended President Tinubu, stating that he is not the cause of Nigeria’s current economic hardship, while urging patience and unity among citizens.
Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, stated that her husband, President Bola Tinubu, should not be blamed for the ongoing economic difficulties in Nigeria.
She mentioned this on Thursday during her address at the palace of Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, noting that Tinubu’s administration is still in its early stages.
The wife of the president visited Ife to inaugurate a hostel and a 2.7-kilometer road at Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile Ife. These were donated by the Ooni of Ife and named in her honor.

“We’re only two years into our administration, and we’re not responsible for the current situation. Our focus is on resolving it and ensuring a secure future.”
She expressed confidence that, although the subsidy has been removed, with divine support and your prayers over the next two years, Nigeria will reach greater heights. Previous attempts to eliminate the subsidy were unsuccessful; however, together we can build a future-ready nation.
According to reports, Nigerians have been struggling with economic difficulties since the fuel subsidy was removed, causing petrol prices to soar from N198 to N1,030.
