FIRS Boss Reveals Why He Won’t Contest Oyo Governorship Election in 2027″
The FIRS chairman explains his decision not to join the 2027 Oyo governorship race, citing professional priorities and his current responsibilities in tax administration.
Zacch Adelabu Adedeji, the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), has declared that he will not be a candidate in the 2027 Oyo State governorship election.
Adedeji, a well-known figure in Oyo State’s political scene and former Commissioner for Finance, stressed that his main focus is on fulfilling his current duties at the FIRS rather than running for governor.
Speaking at a public event, Adedeji stated, “I wish to address numerous requests by saying that I, Zacch Adedeji, will not be running for the governorship election in 2027.”
I understand that many people might not be pleased with this, but everyone is aware of the responsibility and grace bestowed upon us by God. Fourteen years ago, I served as commissioner of finance.
By then, with God’s grace, we will have accomplished everything He desires for us in the state. He’s provided us this opportunity. All I ask from you is your prayers for strength to finish well in my current endeavors, as I wish to remain focused and undistracted.
Adedeji’s decision represents a significant moment in the political landscape of Oyo State as he concentrates on fulfilling his term at the revenue agency.
