FG’s Strategic Move: New Appointments to Governing Councils and Boards of Tertiary Institutions

The Governing Councils and Boards for the 111 federal universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education have been reconstituted by the Federal Government. A recent list of members was released, but due to objections from the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and other stakeholders regarding alleged lopsidedness, the list was withdrawn for review.

However, a new list has been issued by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) on Friday. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the reconstitution of these governing councils and boards for effective management of Nigerian tertiary institutions nationwide.

The list includes notable individuals such as Chief Bisi Akande, Wole Olanipekun, Isa Yuguda, Yayale Ahmed, and Senator Joy Emordi, who have been appointed to chair the councils of various institutions. Each university, polytechnic, and college of education has five names listed for their respective governing councils.
