On Friday, Vice President Kashim Shettima launched the “Skillnovation Programme,” which aims to give over three million Nigerians the crucial digital skills they need to participate in the information technology revolution.

Shettima stated that the project was a part of the government’s efforts to make sure that citizens flourish in the global economy when introducing the event at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

15 cutting-edge Information Communication Technology Centres will be built as part of the Skillnovation Programme and strategically located throughout the nation.

The curriculum will also offer access to cutting-edge digital training, tools, and assistance for both individuals and enterprises.

The plan will be executed in two phases, the first in the states of Katsina, Anambra, Borno, Lagos, Oyo, and Kano, and the second in the states of Delta, Kaduna, Ogun, Bauchi, Kwara, and Ekiti.

According to the vice president, this would expand the scope of economic and social contacts and boost the nation’s productivity growth.

For Nigerians, Skillnovation will usher in a new era of digital empowerment, according to his description of the project as revolutionary.

“The route the world has taken, a world of disruptive technologies characterised by the fourth industrial revolution, forces us to follow this path.

“This initiative is a response to the evolution of the modern business environment, an acknowledgement that digital skills have become the cornerstone of economic ease and expansion,” he stated.

Shettima pointed out that Nigeria, with its over 40 million MSMEs, had the potential to be a leader in business innovation outside of Africa.

“The ‘Skillnovation Programme’ thus seeks to unleash this enormous potential. The project aims to give MSMEs the tools and knowledge they need to prosper and compete on a global scale.

“It’s in support of this administration’s commitment to fostering MSMEs and youth empowerment as well as building a more inclusive and prosperous Nigeria.

He declared, “Today, we are putting that pledge into practise, and we plan to be your friends in your quest to take over the globe through improved talents.
