FG delays the restart of the Kaduna-Abuja railway

On Sunday in Kaduna, the Ministry of Transportation postponed the start of the Kaduna-Abuja train service.

In March 2022, the train service was discontinued when robbers assaulted its passengers, murdered 25, injured a number of others, and kidnapped more than 50.

The federal government had, however, pledged earlier this month that rail service between Kaduna and Abuja would be restored before the end of November.

However, Mu’azu Sambo, the minister of transportation, stated that a few items needed to be in place before operations could resume when on an inspection visit to assess its preparedness for operation before they began.

He said that the FG has implemented a new system for buying tickets, which he claimed marks the start of security checks that would let the government keep track of who boards the train at all times.

Although he refrained from commenting on the precise start date, he promised the audience that it wouldn’t be long.
