The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, October 1, 2024, a national holiday to mark the 64th anniversary of Independence Day.
The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, who spoke on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulated Nigerians at home and abroad on the occasion.
In a statement by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani on Friday, Tunji Ojo commended the persevering and hardworking Nigerian men and women, saying their sacrifices were not in vain.
In line with the theme of the anniversary, the Minister reiterated that Nigerians should reflect on the achievements of “heroes of old” and take inspiration for the challenges ahead, saying, “We know that the Nigeria of our dreams can only be built if we ‘Let Us Unite.’ ”
Dr. Tunji Ojo wished Nigerians a happy Independence Day and urged them to remain steadfast in nation building.
