On Monday, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) dismantled a multimillion-naira duplex that was unofficially constructed on plot 226 in Wuse Zone 6.

According to Mr. Mukhtar Galadima, Director of the Department of Development Control, the structure was illegally constructed despite numerous warnings.

Given the many claims being made by the parties, Gidado stated that his team had conducted a thorough study to determine the original owner of the site.

Investigative results showed that the developer was not the true owner of the land, he continued, adding, “That is why we had to remove the building.”

He claims that once development laws and regulations are broken, the FCT Administration will not take any defaulting developer’s standing into consideration.

Gidado stated: “We demolished the duplex because it was constructed on someone else’s property without their consent and a legitimate title.

“We had to follow all proper procedures, so we allowed the building to reach this point before demolishing it.”

The director claimed that the alleged building owner had received all of the stop-work notices, but because the developer was disobedient, he persisted without paying attention to them.

“Following our inquiry, we were able to identify the true owner of the site, thus the building must be taken down.

“To determine the next course of action against the developer, we will consult the legal department.
