Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory’s (FCT) newly appointed minister, has issued a warning to individuals who are obstructing the FCT’s master plan, letting them know that their homes will soon be demolished.

Speaking on Monday in Abuja as he took over as FCT Minister was the recently-retired governor of Rivers State.

No matter how well-off the owners are, he declared, his administration will destroy any illegal structures.

“Too bad,” remarked Wike of individuals who are distorting Abuja’s master plan. It will fall down once you realise you’ve built somewhere you shouldn’t have.

“Whether you’re a minister or an ambassador, if you realise you’ve grown where you shouldn’t have grown, your house must be torn down.

“Our parks must come park, sorry, those who have occupied the green spaces to create. The areas that were green must return. Green is the colour of self-hatred.

“We would not accept that you have moved your restaurants into the parks and other open spaces. It will fall.

“And the time for all those engaging in land swindling is finished. And those to whom the government had allotted land but who refused to develop it have lost the land.

“I’m going to revoke them because I don’t understand how land that you might have purchased for N200,000 is being advertised for sale for N2 billion. Who would do that?

“We’re going to take our land back and give it to anyone who want to build. Additionally, you have to agree to a deadline by signing.
