Eyiboh, Media Aide: Akpabio Isn’t Experiencing Amnesia

Godswill Obot Akpabio, the president of the Senate, has denied suffering amnesia and asserted that he is in good health like everyone else.

In response to an online publication, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Senate President, Eseme Eyiboh, issued a statement accessible to media in Abuja on Friday. In it, he stated that the article suggesting Akpabio suffers from forgetfulness was the height of lie.

“Drama at National Assembly as former Senate President Ahmad Lawan puts up a shocking solo move of amnesia,” the Conclave online journal published, drew the attention of the Office of the President of the Senate, he said.

According to Eyiboh, the magazine was trying to discredit Akpabio and associate him with wrongdoing.

He claimed that the Senate President has never experienced a crippling illness in his life and that he is in superb physical and mental health.

“He has never displayed any sort of forgetfulness in his public life,” the speaker stated. “He has served as an Akwa Ibom commissioner, a two-term governor, a minister of the Federal Republic, a senator twice, and the president of the Federal Republic’s Senate.

“He has been a bright spot in public life, handling his business with the highest integrity and carrying out his duties with the greatest decency and reason.”

Therefore, it is nefarious, sick-minded, and the height of unethical journalism practice for the Conclave to fabricate a falsehood out of thin air, claiming that Senator Akpabio frequently failed to show up for the chamber during his time serving as a Federal Republic senator.

“We find it shocking that the Conclave’s publisher, who is purportedly a highly experienced journalist and an equity lawyer, could publish such a thrashing and contracted compilation.

“If the Conclave’s version of events is true, and former Senate President Ahmad Lawan visited the chamber on Thursday, what connection does the EFCC have with Senator Akpabio’s alleged mishap in the National Assembly?”
