Mr. Dauda Ali-Biu, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), emphasized that road traffic accidents are not a result of spiritual influences or any form of evil spirits, but rather stem from physical errors.

Speaking at the Flag-off of the 2024 Sallah mega motor park rally in Abuja, he highlighted the importance of the event due to the expected surge in vehicular and human traffic during the festive season.

Represented by Mr. Shehu Zaki, the FRSC Deputy Corps Marshal in charge of operations, Ali-Biu stressed the need for a significant change in motorists’ behavior in the upcoming year.

He debunked the notion of supernatural causes for road accidents, attributing them instead to factors such as increased human and vehicular movement, reckless driving, impatience, drinking and driving, overloading, worn-out tires, lane indiscipline, speeding, wrongful overtaking, among others.

Ali-Biu also pointed out that these irresponsible driving behaviors not only endanger the lives of drivers and passengers but also damage road infrastructure, which requires significant taxpayer resources for repairs.

To address these challenges, the FRSC has initiated campaigns to educate individuals at motor parks early on safety measures, recognizing the crucial role of union officials in promoting road safety.

Additionally, they plan to deploy personnel and resources to high-risk areas to mitigate traffic congestion and associated risks effectively.
