EPL: Martin Keown names Arsenal player responsible for Brentford’s 1–1 draw with Arsenal

Martin Keown, an Arsenal great, cited Aaron Ramsdale as the cause of his team’s Saturday 1–1 Premier League draw with Brentford.

After an unexpected loss to Everton the previous weekend, Mikel Arteta’s team lost two more points on Saturday.

Leandro Trossard gave them the lead in the 66th minute of the game, but Thomas Frank’s team managed to hold them to a 1-1 draw at the Emirates.

Ivan Toney of Brentford scored a contentious equaliser shortly after, and Ramsdale’s contribution to Toney’s goal was debatable.

Keown believes he is to blame for his team losing further points and squandering the chance to increase their advantage to eight points because the England goalkeeper was forced off his line, giving the striker with an empty net to tap into.

Brentford is given credit. “VAR was widely used, and while it appeared to me to be offside in the end, they did award it,” Keown told BBC.

“During the build-up, Ramsdale was pulled out of the box and he rushed out. Toney tapped it in after an empty goal.
