Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, recently disclosed his desire to sign Harry Kane for the club last summer, but instead, they ended up acquiring Rasmus Hojlund.

The Danish forward made a move to United in a £72 million deal from Atalanta, while Kane made a high-profile switch to Bayern Munich from Tottenham for a whopping £100 million.

In his first season at Old Trafford, Hojlund has managed to score eight goals in 26 league appearances, showcasing his potential, whereas Kane has been in sensational form for Bayern Munich, finding the back of the net 35 times in just 31 Bundesliga games.

During an interview with Gary Neville for Sky Sports, Ten Hag mentioned, “We have had some choices made with talents like Rasmus Hojlund. I can see a striker who already proved it, who we want to sign and we couldn’t get him.

And then we went to Rasmus because he’s a talent.” When specifically asked if he was referring to Kane, Ten Hag confirmed, “Yes, and you know Harry Kane will get you 30 goals.

I think Rasmus will get there, but he needs time. It’s not fair to assess him the same as Harry Kane. I would never compare two players because they are very different.”
