On Tuesday, Mazi Emma Uche, an All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain from the southeast, announced his resignation from the party in favor of the Labour Party (LP) in the Abia state.
Along with his numerous supporters in every local electoral ward in the state’s Arochukwu Local Government Area, he defected to the LP.
The party leader made the announcement on Tuesday while speaking to a variety of journalists.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which recently held general elections in most states of the federation, including Abia, cited Mr. Uche, a former candidate of the APC during the most recent local council area elections held in the state of Abia, as justification for the ongoing and inevitable internal crisis ravaging the Abia chapter of the All Progressives Congress.
He regretted that the APC’s real desire and chances to win the election and create a government in Abia state have continued to be cut short by the ongoing conflict in the state party chapter.
“Otti has the required capacity, ability, competence, and expertises to address myriad challenges impeding the state’s growth and put the state back on the path to economic greatness,” he said in his own words. He has made comparable advancements in the nation’s economic development and private sector-driven governance.
“On this basis, I and my throngs of supporters from the Arochukwu local government council area, along with numerous other APC adherents and supporters, decided to identify with competence, as the new governor-elect’s ability is undeniable, and he will undoubtedly duplicate the formal inaugural event for the newly elected government that will take place on May 29, 2023.
